Ray Romano‘s untitled feature directorial debut dramedy is on its way, and it’s adding up and coming actor Jacob Ward and Kim Possible’s Sadie Stanley to the cast according to Deadline. The film was written by Romano alongside Scrubs and Raising Hope writer Mark Stegemann.
The movie follows Leo, played by Romano, and Angela Russo, played by Laurie Metcalf, living a simple life in Queens surrounded by the big personalities of their overbearing Italian-American family. When their lanky son ‘Sticks,’ played by Ward, finds success on the high school basketball team and has a chance at life beyond what might be expected of him, Leo tears the family apart in an effort to make it happen.
Romano, Metcalf, Ward and Stanley are joined by Jennifer Esposito, Dierdre Friel, Jon Manfrellotti, Danny Garcia, Erik Griffin, June Gable, Sebastian Maniscalco, Tony Lo Bianco, Adam Kaplan, Katie Kreisler, Franco Maicas and Jennifer Simard. ICM holds the distribution rights and the film is being produced by Bona Fide Productions Albert Berger & Ron Yerxa alongside Romano and Stegemann. Ally Romano is co-producing, and Chris Stinson and Amy Greene will serve as EPs.
This marks Ward’s feature-length debut. The young actor previously has only worked on shorts and smaller projects. It’s still unclear what role Stanley will play in the upcoming film.
