Age is usually never an obstacle preventing one from being a badass, and Jackie Chan can attest to that. Despite not doing as many insane action stunts as he used to in his prime, at 64 years old Mr. Chan remains one of the best martial arts action stars in Hollywood. Now, it looks like he’s found a new cinematic partner to fight alongside that isn’t Chris Tucker: John Cena! The former WWE star turned actor is set to star alongside Chan in an upcoming action thriller currently titled Project X, which will be directed by Scott Waugh (Need for Speed). A release date for the film has yet to be announced.
According to Hollywood Reporter, Project X will star Chan as a Chinese private security contractor called in to extract a number of oil workers from a China-run oil refinery in the Middle East. However, when the attack is revealed to be part of a larger scheme to steal the oil for profit, Chan will team up with a former U.S. Marine (Cena) to stop their plan from succeeding. The film will be produced by Chan alongside Joe Tam, Esmond Ren, and Hans Canosa.
In addition to this film, Chan is set to star in future sequels to both of his trademark Shanghai Noon and Rush Hour franchises. Cena, meanwhile, recently starred in the sex comedy Blockers and will be playing alongside Hailee Steinfeld in the upcoming non-Bay Transformers spin-off Bumblebee.
