Back in September, Abrams made a deal with Warner Brothers Pictures to help produce some films for his production company Bad Robot. Due to this deal, it was announced that the first project to come from Bad Robot and WB’s mega deal will be a supernatural thriller known as The Pinkerton. The film was written by Daniel Casey, a longtime collaborator with Abrams who helped write 10 Cloverfield Lane.
Not much has been fully revealed for The Pinkerton plot wise, which is usual for a Abrams production. The film has been described as a revenge supernatural thriller that apparently takes place in a Western setting. The name Pinkerton comes from a detective agency that was around during the Industrial Age, best known for security of President Abraham Lincoln. The film has yet to receive a director, though UTA agent Peter Dodd will be overseeing the project as The Pinkerton is set to be a part of Warner Brothers theatrical pipeline.
While The Pinkerton is still currently under wraps, the film seems very promising for up and coming screen writer Daniel Casey. Casey has worked on numerous projects in the past, including the screenplay for the next Fast and Furious installment F9. Not only that, but it seems very promising for both Bad Robot and Warner Bros to have this collaboration as many other projects are set to come from both studios later on as well. This includes them contributing to the next season of HBO’s hit series, Westworld. Therefore having a supernatural thriller like The Pinkerton seems to be the next big step for WB and Bad Robot’s upcoming mega deal. No release date has been set for The Pinkerton for the time being.
