J.C. Chandor To Direct Spider-Man Spinoff ‘Kraven The Hunter’ At Sony

Director J.C. Chandor is currently in talks to helm Sony‘s Kraven The Hunterwhich is based off of Sony’s Universe of Marvel characters, this time featuring Spider-Man’s formidable enemy known as Kraven the Hunter.

Art Marcum and Matt Holloway are writing the screenplay, with Matt Tolmach, Avi Arad, Richard Wenk (The Equalizer) producing.

Kraven The Hunter follows the notorious antihero also known as Sergei Kravinoff. The villain is also the half-brother of the disguise master called Chameleon. His character has been featured in numerous Spider-Man adaptations, including an animated series and video games.

Chandor’s projects are known for his character-driven adult dramas like 2011 thriller Margin Call, 2013 survival drama All Is Lost, crime thriller A Most Violent Year and most recently Netflix’s 2019 Triple Frontier, starring Ben Affleck, Oscar Isaac, Charlie Hunnam, Garrett Hedlund, and Pedro Pascal as former U.S. soldiers who plot and execute a heist in South America. Kraven The Hunter marks his first big-budget, major studio feature film.

Sony continues to add more and more projects to its plate for Marvel characters. Spider-Man: Homecoming and its sequel Spider-Man: Far From Home with Tom Holland, as well as Tom Hardy’s Venom were all huge box office hits. Sequel Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Morbius featuring Jared Leto are the next adaptations on Sony’s radar.
