Its Official: More Bill Murray To Come Spring 2015

From Barry Levinson, the director of Good Morning Vietnam and The Natural, comes the latest star-blazing rock ‘n’ roll movie, Rock the Kasbah. Kate Hudson (Clear History) and Bruce Willis (The Expendables 2) will tag-team headlining roles with Bill Murray in this new movie about music, fame, and Afghani politics set to release April 24, 2015.

Murray, who has by no means been off movie-goers minds lately, will play in what figures to be a music-driven story of redemption. A washed-up rock manager who gets ditched by his clients while on a tour in Afghanistan. Without his passport and cash, he wanders the country alone. When all hope seems lost, he stumbles upon a random girl with an amazing voice, and persuades her to let him manage her. Their journey takes them all the way to the “Afghan Star,” a local version of “American Idol.”

Other credits include writer/producer Mitch Glazer (Passion Play, Magic City), among other are producers Bill Block (Elysium) and Jacob Pechenik (Before Midnight, Jobs). Co-starring is Danny McBride (This is The End, The Sound of Fury), Zooey Deschanel (Yes Man), and Scott Caan (Hawaii Five-O, Encourage). The movie will be distributed by Open Road Films.

Word of the release date comes at the same time that the Toronto International Film Festival announces that they will hold a “Bill Murray Day”. In addition to premiering Murray’s new comedy St. Vincent, September 5 will also feature screenings of Stripes, Groundhog Day, and Ghostbusters.
