It’s a Fight for Survival in New Trailer for ‘The Outpost’

In the most dire circumstances, every second matters, as is the case for the upcoming war drama The Outpost.

Based off the 2012 nonfiction book The Outpost: An Untold Story of American Valor, which details the events of the Battle of Kamdesh in Afghanistan, we follow fifty-three U.S. soldiers who engage against a force of four hundred Taliban insurgents from an outpost just fourteen miles from the Pakistan border. On October 3, 2009, Taliban insurgents launched a devastating attack that resulted in the loss of eight American soldiers and twenty-seven being wounded in battle.

The film was scheduled to premiere at the South by Southwest Film Festival but, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, it was cancelled altogether. In April, The Outpost‘s distribution rights were acquired by Screen Media Films and is currently scheduled to release theatrically on July 3, 2020. At the moment, however, there’s no official word on whether the film will see a digital release that same date.

The Outpost is directed by Rod Lurie (Straw Dogs) while the screenplay credits are given to Eric Johnson and Paul Tamasy. The cast includes Scott Eastwood (Pacific Rim: Uprising), Orlando Bloom (Pirates of the Caribbean Franchise), Caleb Landry Jones (The Dead Don’t Die), Milo Gibson (Hurricane) and Jack Kesy (Deadpool 2). Check out the intense trailer below!

Rick Rice: A kid at heart who has loved watching movies from a very young age. Credit must be given to Siskel and Ebert whose film reviews educated me on the world of film inspired me to become a writer myself. I love to read books that range from various topics, copious amounts of research is something that excites me and of course sitting in a movie theater is a highlight of my life. When I'm not watching movies or reading I enjoy listening to foreign music and working hard on finishing my short stories. Currently working on my degree in English with a plan to enroll into Film School with the dream of becoming a screenwriter and director.
