The sequel to 2017’s massively successful horror film It already seems to be following to follow in “its” predecessor’s footsteps with a predicted box office weekend total of at least $110 million. It not only was on the minds of those who watched, but even got a shoutout on Saturday Night Live when Kate McKinnon played “Kellywise:” a political parody combination of It villain Pennywise and Kellyanne Conway. When It premiered on September 8, 2017, the film saw the best opening weekend for an R-rated horror film with an impressive $123 million.
It: Chapter 2 follows the Losers’ Club 27 years after the events of It, with new actors playing adult version of the Stephen King novel characters. The new actors include James McAvoy, Jessica Chastain, and Bill Hader, with Bill Skarsgard being the only original cast member reprising his role as the villainous clown Pennywise, who returns to the town of Derry, Maine, to terrorize its people. It‘s director Andy Muschietti will also be returning to direct the sequel.
