‘It Follows’ Sequel ‘They Follow’ Gets Large Cast Update

The highly anticipated follow-up to David Robert Mitchell’s supernatural horror film It Follows, titled They Follow, has just received a hefty casting update. The upcoming film, which will be released by Neon, has just added Jackie Earle Haley (WatchmenA Nightmare on Elm Street), Justine Lupe (Succession), Anna Mirodin (Ivan), Jayne Taini (Unbelievable), Michael Gandolfini (Daredevil: Born Again), Tom Pecinka (Stereophonic), Melora Walters (Magnolia), Ben Krieger (Song Sung Blue), Natalie Shinnick (The Brutalist), and Jan Hoag (The Fabelmans) to the cast.

They Follow‘s new cast members joins returnee Maika Monroe (Longlegs, 100 Nights of Hero), who led the 2015 original film, a less-than-$1m budget indie about a deadly curse that is passed on via sexual intercourse. The film premiered at Cannes in 2014 and grossed around $23 million. The film has since been regarded as one of the best “elevated” horror movies of the modern era.

Naomi Ackie had been previously rumored to be circling a deal to co-star in the upcoming sequel. Mitchell will direct again from his own screenplay. Plot details are being kept under wraps ahead of production and a release date has not yet been announced.

David Robert Mitchell’s upcoming Science-Fiction/Thriller film The End of Oak Street, starring Ewan McGregor, Anne Hathaway, and Christian Convery hits theaters August 14.
