While promoting her new film Nocturnal Animals, Isla Fisher let some information slip out about the possibility of a sequel to 2005’s hit Wedding Crashers.
According to Deadline, insiders say there is a reason to be hopeful for the follow-up even though it has yet to be greenlit. A script by Evan Susser and Van Robichaux was turned into New Line and the plan is to have David Dobkin return to the director’s chair. The plan includes the original stars, Owen Wilson, Vince Vaughn, Fisher, and Rachel McAdams to also reprise their roles. There is no official word if any of the other memorable cast such as Bradley Cooper, Christopher Walken, or Will Ferrell will return.
New Line sought out writing team Susser and Robichaux after they penned the Charlie Day and Ice Cube comedy Fist Fight, which will release February 17. After competing for the writing gig, their pitch was best received and won them the job. It goes without saying these are some enormous shoes to fill, the original Wedding Crashers grossed $285 million worldwide on a $40 million budget.
