Within James Gunn’s upcoming Superman film debuting on July 11, 2025, Isabella Merced will be playing Hawkgirl in the upcoming production. As many DC fans will know, Hawkgirl will also be accompanied by other heroes and villains such as: Lex Luthor, Green Lantern, Mr. Terrific, Metamorpho, and of course Superman in James Gunn new vision of the DC Universe.

Isabllea Merced has recently shared her excitement about playing Hawkgirl in Superman as told in an interview with Collider,

“I would be honored for people to see me on the street and just be like, “Hawkgirl!” They don’t need to know my name. I’d be honored because you know what? It also sounds like, “hotgirl!” And I’m ok with people calling me a hot girl. Same as I was honored by Dora. Because these characters mean so much to other people, I’m just happy that I could potentially hold a special place in their heart. I don’t care what it’s for or what I’ve done. As long as it means something to them, I’m happy about that.”

Isablea Merced has previously played the role of Dora The Explorer in Dora and The Lost City of Gold in 2019 and has also acted in the films, Alien: Romulus, Madame Web, and Sicario 2: Day of The Solado. Historically, the character of Hawkgirl was preceedingly portrayed in Smallville played by Sahar Biniaz, and by Ciara Renee in the Arrowverse.
