Kevin Williamson, the mastermind behind the original Scream, is returning as the director for Scream 7. Actress Isabel May will be joining the horror legend, playing Sidney Prescott’s daughter, a role made famous by Neve Campbell. Campbell is back in action, putting her previous salary disputes behind her.
May first rose to prominence as Katie Cooper in the Netflix series Alexa & Katie. She gained even more recognition for her role as Elsa Dutton in the Paramount+ series 1883, a role she reprised as the narrator in its sequel 1923. With a diverse range of performances, Isabel continues to prove her versatility and talent.
The seventh installment of the franchise, produced by Spyglass Entertainment, is rebuilding itself after the departure of Melissa Barrera and Jenna Ortega. Barrera was let go after posting about the Israel-Hammas conflict, while Ortega left the project due to scheduling conflicts.
Following these departures, Christopher Landon, originally slated to direct, announced he would step down.
Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett, the duo behind Scream (2022) and Scream VI, helped bring the series back into the mainstream with their two successful films, with Scream VI earning over $166 million at the global box office.
Williamson, who created the franchise and wrote the original Scream as well as Scream 2 and Scream 4, is not only back to script but also directing this new feature. The script is written by Guy Busick, who also wrote Scream (2022) and Scream VI.
Paramount Pictures has scheduled Scream 7 to release in theaters on February 27, 2026. Project X Entertainment producers James Vanderbilt, William Sherak, and Paul Neinstein will oversee the film’s production.
With all these changes and additions, fans are in for an exciting ride to see how Scream 7 will unfold.
