‘Iron Man’ Writers Return To Superheroes With Adaptation Of Graphic India’s ‘Shadow Tiger’

Writers Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby, known for their work on Iron Man and Children of Men, are set to be scripting the film adaptation of Sharad Devarajan’s Shadow Tiger. This will be the first time the Academy Award-nominated team is returning to the superhero genre since the writing of Iron Man, which launched the Marvel Cinematic Universe, according to Deadline reporting. They are also known for their work on Children of Men, creating the sci-fi series The Expanse, and working on God of War adaptation for Prime Video according to Deadline

Shadow Tiger will be live-action and produced independently by Devarajan’s Graphic India. The comic book it is based on has become one of the most influential to be released from India in recent years according to Deadline

The comic follows the story of Rajan Shah, a young lawyer whose career gets destroyed when he begins to challenge corruption in the Indian legal system. His life takes a turn when he inherits an economic empire and superpowers from the man who killed his parents. Upon receiving this, he decides to protect the innocent and bring justice to those the law won’t touch.

“In creating ‘Shadow Tiger,’ my mission was to create a truly global superhero with uniquely Indian roots,” said Devarajan.  “Having Mark Fergus and Hawk Ostby on board is a game-changer — their work on Iron Man laid the foundation for a cinematic universe that has generated over $30B and transformed global entertainment. They’re the perfect writers to take ‘Shadow Tiger’ to the world, and I am honored they have chosen this character to mark their return to superheroes.”
