Iqbal Theba will soon be a first-time producer when he stars in the film Days with Dandekar. The film was written and set to be directed by Leena Pendharkar, who developed the script at the Film Independent Screenwriting Lab and Tribeca All Access.
Days with Dandekar has yet to be picked up by a distributor or announce any release plans. Alongside Theba, the film sees the sisters Pallavi & Keertana Sastry as fellow producers marking the second occasion of a collaboration between the three. Joining Theba and the Sastrys is Jane Kelly Kosek, who will be the fourth co-producer. The start of production has been announced and will begin in Q1 of 2025 in the city of Tulsa, Oklahoma.
The film’s story, according to Deadline, follows the aftermath of a man, Dandekar, played by Theba as he is laid off from his job of 35 years. The story then progresses through the “extensional journey” Dandekar goes through to recover the sentimental 1987 Volo that his family traded away for the sake of the greater good sometime before the story starts. Dandekar throughout that journey connects with neighbors and strangers who help him come to terms and define a sense of self.
This indie project is not the only film Theba will be appearing in the near future. He will star in the Anna Nicole Smith biopic, Hurricanna for Stagecoach Entertainment alongside co-stars Holly Hunter, Mark Duplass, and Sylvia Hoeks.
