Returning and new characters are the main talk of the town in the new trailer for Pixar Animation’s Inside Out 2.
The film will follow a now 13-year-old Riley Anderson, the main character in the first film, and the new emotions she has to deal with as she enters her teenage years.
These new emotions, Anxiety, Envy, Embarrassment and Ennui show off their personalities in the trailer as they take control of Riley’s mind and suppress her original emotions, in turn affecting the relationships that Riley has with her current and potentially new friends.
The voice actors of these new characters were also revealed in the trailer. According to The Hollywood Reporter, Anxiety is played by Maya Hawke (Stranger Things), Envy is played by Ayo Edebiri (The Bear), Embarrassment is played by Paul Walter Hauser (Orion in the Dark) and Ennui is played by Adèle Exarchopoulos (The Animal Kingdom).
Some of the voice actors of the original film will be making their return, with Amy Poehler (Parks and Recreation), Phyllis Smith (The Office) and Lewis Black (Scooby-Doo! Mystery Incorporated) reprising their roles of Joy, Sadness, and Anger.
However, the voices of some of the original characters were fitted with new actors. Tony Hale (Harley Quinn) takes over for Bill Hader as the voice of Fear and Liza Lapira (The Equalizer TV Series) takes over for Mindy Kaling as the voice of Disgust.
Inside Out 2 is directed by Kelsey Mann, who has worked on Pixar projects such as The Good Dinosaur, Lightyear, and Elemental, and will be released on June 14, 2024.
