Filming commenced this past week on Shotgun, an indie drama by Hannah Marks and Joey Power in their directorial debut. According to The Hollywood Reporter, American Honey star Sasha Lane has joined the cast, which already stars Maika Monroe (It Follows) and Jeremy Allen White (Showtime’s Shameless).
Shotgun follows Elliot (White) and Mia (Monroe) as they develop a rapid romantic relationship after one of them is diagnosed with a life-threatening illness. The film will reportedly showcase a unique blend of “heartfelt drama and offbeat comedy.” The screenplay is an original story by Marks and Power. Marks currently stars in Dirk Gentley’s Holistic Detective Agency alongside Elijah Wood.
Yale Producation and WYSJ Media are financing the project with The Exchange handling sales.
Lane’s role has not yet been disclosed. The actress had her breakout in last year’s American Honey, a film by Andrea Arnold that also starred Shia Labeouf and Riley Keough and earned the Grand Jury Prize at the Cannes Film Festival. Her next film appearance will be in The Miseducation of Cameron Post alongside Chloe Grace Moretz and John Gallagher Jr.
