Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny has finally been released. Indiana Jones is back, for one final adventure.
For the first time for the franchise, the new installment is helmed by a new director, James Mangold. Steven Spielberg has helmed all 4 films before this one, since 1981’s Raiders Of The Lost Ark. Moviegoers last saw Indiana Jones 15 years ago, in Kingdom Of The Crystal Skull, which pulled in an astounding $100 million in its first weekend. According to numbers released by Hollywood Reporter, Dial Of Destiny is looking to land in a lower ballpark by a sizable margin.
In its Friday ticket sales, Indy found $24 million, putting it on track for an overall opening gross of about $60 million. Not a bad gross, but still under what they were anticipating. Across the ticket sales, the demographic breakdown saw a 58% to 42% male-to-female ratio, and breaking it down even further showed 42% of the ticket holders were 45 and older, with 23% being 55 and older. The statistic further proves that the target demographic, older adults, is still hard to pull into the theater.
Indiana Jones And The Dial Of Destiny is playing in theaters now and stars Harrison Ford, Phoebe Waller-Bridge, Antonio Banderas, and Mads Mikkelsen.
