Jane Schoenbrun confirmed that they will be adding a third film to complete their A24 horror trilogy. The first feature of the trio was We’re All Going To The World’s Fair, released in 2021, which explores a lonely teenager and their experience after participating in a dangerous internet challenge. 2024’s I Saw The TV Glow was the follow-up feature that centers around two teenagers in 1996 and their obsession around a television show called ‘The Pink Opaque,’ calling their own identities into question. This feature gained significant traction in the LGBTQ+ community, as many felt this film paralleled the experience of coming out as trans.
Though these two films differ content-wise, Schoenbrun, while on the red carpet for the Independent Spirit Award, told Collider’s Aidan Kelley that this final feature “will be something completely different.” Going further to elaborate that their new title has, “enough—my next movie’s got enough blood, gore, sex, fluids, nudity, etc. for both films. You could take some extra out of the next one and put it into this one, and then you would still have plenty.”
Both We’re All Going To The World’s Fair, with Anna Cobb in her feature film debut, and I Saw The TV Glow, starring Justice Smith and Jake Haven, are streaming on the platform Max.
