The Transformers are back and rolling out for new adventure! Set as a sequel to Bumblebee, the latest film from director Steven Caple Jr., Transformers: Rise of the Beasts will follow Optimus Prime, Bumblebee, and the other Autobots on Earth, looking for refuge while longing to return to their war-torn world of Cybertron. But when an ancient threat comes back, hidden faction of Transformers known as the Maximals seek out the Autobots’ help to drive off the threat, and hopefully save the Earth from imminent disaster.
The movie itself takes inspiration from the 90’s Beast Wars toy line, with the characters turning into robotic animals rather than cars and vehicles. With the film slated for release on June 9th, early screenings are starting to take place, and the early reviews are making headway. Mike Reyes of CinemaBlend wrote “Rise of the Beasts was a blast! The Beast Wars crew finally shows up in what’s arguably the BEST Transformers movie in the run.” Erick Davis gave it a positive review on Twitter, saying they loved the setting and had a blast with the film.
The director himself went on to say that you don’t need to know much about the franchise to be able to have fun with the film. “You don’t need to know much. If anything, Bumblebee got here in 1987, along with Optimus Prime, and they’ve tried to seek refuge on Earth until they can get back to Cybertron. Ultimately, all you need to know is that they’re trying to get back to Cybertron,” as he explained to The Hollywood Reporter.
Transformers: Rise of the Beasts hits theaters on June 9th, and will star Peter Cullen as Optimus Prime, Ron Perlman as Optimus Primal, and Peter Dinklage as Scourge. Stay with us here for any updates on the newest Cybertronian adventure!
