The How to Train Your Dragon franchise captured the imaginations of passionate fans across the globe. How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World will be the third and final installment of the animated trilogy. As the franchise nears its conclusion, longtime fans expressed their budding anxiety over how their beloved series will end. However, the film’s successful premier has hopefully relieved some of the series’ more apprehensive fans’ anxieties. In a red carpet interview with the Hollywood Reporter, front man of the franchise, Jay Baruchel, addressed these concerns and praised the series finale.
Baruchel, the voice of the animated franchise’s hero, Hiccup, commented on the How to Train Your Dragon’s conclusion at the premiere of The Hidden World. The star describes his emotional first impressions after reading the script, “I was quite moved just reading it, but very, very proud because it’s a hard thing to give the proper ending that these characters and these fans deserve.”
Baruchel goes on to address thematic impacts that the series had on passionate fans, saying, “These are movies about a kid born into the margins who is told that there is no place for him, but then he figures out a way to affect change and he believes in something bigger than him.” The star continued, “It is the true journey of a reluctant leader and the world needs more of that.”
The animated finale was directed and written by Dean DeBlois. How to Train Your Dragon: Hidden World will fly into theaters on February 22nd.
