‘How The Grinch Stole Christmas’ Has A Petition On Change.org

While many movies have appeared on the popular website Change.org, most of the time it is in a negative light. This is not the case for the 2000s How the Grinch Stole Christmas. Instead, this petition proposes that director Ron Howard release his four-hour long cut of the film.

The petition reads as follows:

“I would love to see all the unseen deleted scenes reintegrated into the film, enhancing the experience for fans. Most of the deleted scenes from The Grinch on DVD and Blu-ray are in 480ip and fans are eager to see them released in higher quality, ideally remastered in HD editions. We’re eager to see the additional footage occasionally featured in the ABC Freeform broadcasts each year, along with any other unseen material. Ron Howard revealed that his original cut of the movie was four hours long, leaving about two hours of footage that didn’t make it to the final version.”

As the 25th anniversary of How the Grinch Stole Christmas approaches, it is likely that we will be receiving some sort of re-release, although it is unlikely that it will be a four-hour cut. As of writing, the petition has 1,933 signatures and counting. It will be exciting to see just how far this goes.
