The upcoming fourth and final installment in the Hotel Transylvania franchise, Hotel Transylvania: Transformia is moving its release date from July 23 to October 1, surely making for a much spookier release. The film stars the now familiar cast of monsters including Brian Hull as Drac, Jim Gaffigan as Van Helsing, Andy Samberg as the human Johnny, and Selena Gomez as Drac’s daughter Mavis.
The adventure follows the cast of characters after Van Helsing creates an invention that turns all of the monsters into humans and Johnny into a monster, forcing them to work together to switch back before the change becomes permanent. Franchise creator Genndy Tartakovsky wrote the script and will serve as an executive producer on the film, which is being directed by Jennifer Kluska and Derek Drymon.
This also marks the first film without Adam Sandler as Dracula. According to Drymon, Dracula becoming human in this film made for “a good opportunity to do things a little differently.”
Joining Hull, Gaffigan, Samberg and Gomez are Kathryn Hahn, Keegan-Michael Key, Steve Buscemi, David Spade, Asher Blinkoff, Brad Abrell, Fran Drescher and Molly Shannon. Although the last installment in the franchise received mixed reviews from critics, it still took in an impressive $167.5 million at the domestic box office.
