Horror Remake ‘Speak No Evil’ Off To Strong Start With $1.3 Million In Previews

The horror remake Speak No Evil has garnered $1.3 million from preview screenings, signaling a promising start ahead of its official weekend release. Produced by Universal Pictures and Blumhouse, the psychological thriller is expected to generate between $10 million and $13 million in its opening weekend. With a production budget of $15 million, these early numbers suggest a solid box office performance.

Directed by James Watkins (Bastille Day), Speak No Evil is a remake of the 2022 Danish horror film that received critical acclaim at the Sundance Film Festival. The film follows American couple Louise (Davis McNairy) and Ben (Scoot McNairy) as they befriend British vacationers Paddy (James McAvoy) and Ciara (Aisling Franciosi). Their idyllic trip abroad takes a sinister turn when they are invited to spend a weekend at Paddy and Ciara’s home, turning their dream getaway into a chilling nightmare.

However, Speak No Evil faces tough competition at the box office from Beetlejuice Beetlejuice, Warner Bros.’ sequel to Tim Burton’s classic. Beetlejuice Beetlejuice opened last weekend with a strong $111 million and is expected to add another $45 million in its second weekend, despite a predicted 60% drop in ticket sales.

Also debuting this weekend is Lionsgate’s The Killer’s Game, starring Dave Bautista as an assassin who mistakenly orders a hit on himself after receiving a false terminal diagnosis. The action film made $300,000 in preview screenings and is expected to gross $5 million in its opening weekend.

With a packed lineup, this weekend promises excitement for moviegoers, as Speak No Evil enters the race to make its mark at the box office.
