Horizon: An American Saga- Chapter 1 has finally hit streaming, shortly ahead of the release of Chapter 2. However, with the release of Chapter 2, and the following films, not necessarily lining up with what was in mind for the films, there are still some questions left unanswered.
Deadline took the liberty to round up as much known information on the story, which still has two other films to release after Chapter 2.
The first Horizon took place within 15 years, focusing on the lead-up to and the aftermath of the Civil War. Kevin Costner took the task of directing, writing, producing, and starring in the film all upon himself, and will do so for the subsequent films.
Since before the release of the first film, it was confirmed that the story would stretch across four separate films. However, it wouldn’t be a typical string of sequels. Rather the four films would all be separate components to piece together the full story.
Deadline was also able to receive word from Costner himself that production on the third film is currently underway. Reportedly, only three days of shooting were done so far, but his goal is to be able to bring the third part with him to the next Cannes Film Festival.
Deadline also made note of the great lengths that Costner is going to in order to ensure these movies get off the ground, including some of the financial hurdles that he would have to overcome. It’s estimated that by the fourth film, Costner will have put $100 million of his own funds towards the films.
Horizon: An American Saga- Chapter 1 is now streaming on Max.
