This was truly dark for American citizens. In a backwards decision, the United States Supreme Court deemed the reversal of Roe v. Wade constitutional, meaning that there is no longer any sort of national abortion protection. Since the ruling, nearly half of the fifty states have rushed to criminalize abortion, some officiating it within mere hours of the Supreme Court’s ruling.
Everybody gets a gun but nobody gets bodily autonomy. America.

As one can imagine, everyone has something to say on the matter, including the stars of Hollywood. There’s been a collective support amongst celebrities in an opposition of the ruling — as actor/director Jon Favreau included in his reaction, the reversal was only supported by less than 20% of the nation. But by far, the most heartbreakingly empowering reactions have been from the women in Hollywood who represent the American women grieving this week.
Celebs like Tony Award-winner Laura Benanti took to Instagram to remind people that just because of this loss, things aren’t over. Those behind the Roe v. Wade reversal are going to be headed after contraception and gay marriage laws next, and even after a gutting act like this it’s not the time to back down.
This Supreme Court is an absolute disaster. From giving people the right to carry guns to taking away Womens rights of autonomy over their own bodies. We weren’t being reactive we saw it coming.

Other public figures such as Jenny Slate and Rita Moreno shared links to petitions and resources in their responses, as did countless others, in an attempt to make helpful information available to those being affected by the rulings directly.
The overall message is to get informed and take action. Sign petitions, donate to local abortion funds. Don’t wait.
