In July’s Ant-Man – following the highly anticipated Avengers: Age of Ultron – new heroes and villains will be introduced into the Marvel Cinematic Universe, and two of these are the hero Ant-Man and the villain Yellowjacket. Yellowjacket’s suit has just been revealed, and it is decidedly more intimidating than Scott Lang’s Ant-Man armor.Yellowjacket, aka Darren Cross, is played by Corey Stoll, who battles rival Lang, played by Paul Rudd. The suit feature plasma cannons whereas Ant-Man’s armor (the comic book version, at least) features no outright weapons, other than the ability to shrink to the size of an ant.
The plot of the film will most likely directly follow the events of Age of Ultron. Scott Lang is coached and mentored by his predecessor in the comics, Hank Pym (Michael Douglas) as he turns from criminal to hero.
Peyton Reed is directing the film from Adam McKay’s screenplay. Stoll, Rudd, and Douglas are joined by Judy Greer, Bobby Cannavale, T. I., Michael Pena, as well as Marvel veteran Haley Atwell from the Captain America movies and the television show Agent Carter.
Ant-Man will be released on July 17, following Avengers: Age of Ultron set for release in twenty days, May 1st.
