The long-awaited Snyder cut of 2017’s Justice League, has been the talk of the Internet for some time now, and only moreso since its release to HBO Max in 2021 was announced. Just a few weeks ago a chilling new trailer was shared on Twitter by director Zack Snyder, and the news of the inclusion of infamous DC villain Darkseid has fans pumped up for the new version of the movie.
In an Actors on Actors interview for Variety Magazine (wherein actors interview each other instead of being interviewed together by a third party), the worlds of the Justice League and the X-Men collided as Superman actor Henry Cavill was interviewed by none other than Professor X and fellow Brit Patrick Stewart. When Stewart asked Cavill about the Snyder Cut, Cavill had this to say:
“The famous-slash-infamous-slash-all sorts of things Snyder Cut…it’ll be Zack’s final vision for the movie…I’m just really happy that Zack got to realize his vision. I think it’s important for a filmmaker, a storyteller…to have their intended vision shown to the world.”
Cavill also admitted that he hadn’t seen the Snyder Cut himself but that he was looking forward to it. He talked about the sudden change in directors mid-production. “Zack had to depart because of a death in the family, and then separate director Joss Whedon was brought on, and there was a mix of visions…”
Cavill went on about the history of the Internet fervor over the “fabled” Snyder cut, and ended by saying, “and now that time has come, and I think it’s gonna be…very enjoyable to watch Zack finally release his visions, I say.”
The only thing Patrick Stewart had to say was this: “Oh, grace!”
