HBO Releases 2nd Trailer for ‘The Many Saints of Newark,’ Prequel to ‘The Sopranos’

“Before Tony Soprano, there was Dickie Moltisanti.”

The Many Saints of Newark released its second trailer to the world, and fans of the series as well as of the creatives involved are pondering whether this is a good idea or not.

The opening of the second trailer brings Ray Liotta’s Aldo Moltisanti to the forefront, talking to Alessandro Nivola’s Dickie Moltisanti. Aldo is rumored to be Dickie’s father and the grandfather to Christopher, one of the infamous main characters in the show. To Dickie, he says, “What do you want, Richard?”, establishing the elder status over him.

A badass, pulsating score fits the editing of the gritty yet studio stylized trailer, making it feel more Hollywood and less Chase’s style, which may or may not end up being a good thing for the film. Mob life, family drama, politics, violence, and the like.

We catch glimpses of the man Tony will become as well as the environment around him that celebrated the mobster lifestyle, the head of it being Nivola’s Dickie, who is our anti-hero.

Co-stars include Leslie Odom Jr., Jon Bernthal, Vera Farmiga, Billy Magnussen, Corey Stoll, and Michael Gandolfini, son of the late great James Gandolfini, as his father’s most celebrated role as Tony Soprano. It hits theaters and streams on HBO Max on October 1st.
