‘Haunted Mansion’ Reboot From Disney Coming to Theaters Next Year

Collider has reported a reboot of Haunted Mansion is in the works from Disney. The Haunted Mansion was originally released on November 26th, 2003. The film, which starred Eddie Murphy, is based off the Disneyland attraction and offers a humorous, kid-friendly story that takes place in a spooky setting.

The reboot will feature Danny DeVito, known for his role as Frank Reynolds in It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. It is confirmed that DeVito’s character is a professor. Other actors joining the cast will be LaKeith Stanfield, known for his role as Bill O’Neal in Judas and the Black Messiah, Tiffany Haddish, known for her role of Dina in Girls Trip, Owen Wilson who recently appeared in the role of Charlie Gilbert in Marry Me, and Rosario Dawson, known for her role of Allegra in Briarpatch.

This reboot will be directed by Justin Simien, who also directed Dear White People and Bad Hair. Simien has experience working on films with supernatural elements as Bad Hair was focused around a possessed hairstyle. Not much is known about the plot of the reboot, other than that it will focus on a mother and son finding themselves in a mysterious haunted mansion. With almost twenty years between the original film and its reboot audiences can expect a big difference in the quality of special effects used in the film. Haunted Mansion will release in theaters on March 10, 2023.
