Robin Hood is heading for the big screen – again!
Hollywood Reporter revealed today that Hollywood Gang (producer of 300) is developing a futuristic rendition of the Robin Hood legacy. Today it was announced that visual effects producer Hasraf ‘HaZ’ Dulull would sign on as director of the British folk tale. Already working on the script is comic book author Tony Lee. The dynamic writer has a range of titles such as X-Men, Spider-Man and Doctor Who under his belt.
Dulull took to Twitter this morning to share the news.

Noted for his Sci-Fi short films, Sync being the most notable, Dulull’s work displays a dark tone topped off with uncertainty for humanity, all while captivating the audience with stylized cinematography. Dulull is also responsible for the visual effects of The Dark Knight and Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. With his familiarity with action blockbusters and bold imagery, Dulull seems to be a suitable fit as director for the company that gave us 300.
Both writer and director are located in England, adding more British authenticity to the legend of Robin Hood.
It will be interesting to see how a new Robin Hood will turn out with this writer/director collaboration. A script by an author familiar with the comic universe and fantasy writing as well as a Sci-Fi director should have the potential for some incredible sequences. Combining the best of both elements – with the challenge of modernizing Robin Hood in a technological-driven British society – we may have an astonishing visual feature on our hands with a compelling story-line as well.
Production hopes to take place in 2017. Dulull’s short film Sync is available on Vimeo:
