The world met Julia Fox in Uncut Gems. The acclaimed film by Joshua and Ben Safdie introduced us to the actress as Julia de Fiore, girlfriend of Adam Sandler’s character, and stole part of the spotlight on account of her energetic performance, which would earn her the breakthrough Gotham Award. In subsequent months, Fox didn’t stop working, acting in another critically acclaimed film, PVT CHAT and, last year, having a small but juicy role in No Sudden Move, the Steven Soderbergh noir starring Don Cheadle and Benicio del Toro available on HBO Max.
Fame came to Fox when she had already set up a fashion brand, and in recent weeks she has risen to the limelight again on account of her relationship with Kanye West. She is officially a celebrity, and more so now that she has attended a party at the exclusive West Hollywood club Delilah in the best of companies. In Madonna’s Instagram profile we can see that the pop star went out to party with Julia Fox alongside West, ex-boxer Floyd Mayweather and athlete Antonio Brown, among other celebrities. But the most interesting thing about the gathering is what Madonna pointed out in the caption of the post, made up of photos taken by Richard Gomes.

“Went to dinner with Julia to talk about my movie and some other folks showed up…” Madonna contacted Fox to talk about a movie, which sparked all sorts of rumors. What movie is Madonna referring to? Maybe her biopic: the film about her life that the “Like a Virgin” singer has been preparing since 2020. It was then that we learned that Madonna herself wanted to direct the film (she had already gone behind the camera in projects like Filth and Wisdom and W.E.), and that she was doing her best to assemble a team of highly notable professionals.
One the one hand, Madonna would write the screenplay based on her own life with none other than Diablo Cody, who penned the scripts of Juno, Jennifer’s Body and Young Adult. On the other hand, Universal was interested in financing the film, and a producer as influential as Amy Pascal (the woman behind, among many other titles, the recent Spider-Man trilogy) was also willing to participate. She even dropped a title for the film: Live to Tell, taking the name of a song from her album True Blue.
This is all we knew so far, and certainly not that we know anything else after the lively Los Angeles party. However, her work with the Safdies and Soderbergh confirms that Fox’s career is on the rise, and it wouldn’t be unreasonable if this close bond with celebrity were to carry out the work that would undoubtedly consecrate her. That is, will she play Madonna in Live to Tell? Or has the singer reserved another role for her? We hope to find out soon.
