It looks like Harrison Ford will be squeezing in one more film before production starts on Star Wars VII later in the year. The veteran actor recently signed on for director Lee Toland Kreiger’s (Celeste and Jesse Forever) romantic drama The Age of Adaline. Ford will be a welcome addition to an already talented cast including Blake Lively (Savages) and Academy Award winner Ellen Burstyn (The Last Picture Show).
The plot focuses on Adaline (Lively), a 29-year old woman who ceases to grow old after nearly dying in an accident. She embarks on many solitary adventures throughout the world spanning the course of the 20th Century. She keeps the secret of her age to herself until meeting a man who changes her life forever.
The story seems similar to 2008’s The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, in that it contains a romance complicated by an unusual aging process. While the nature of Ford’s character is not yet known, it is a good bet that he could be the man who changes Adaline’s life. With Ford in his 70’s, his character might be the same age (or possibly younger) than the youthful-looking Adaline, and could prove to be the man she falls in love with.
Production on The Age of Adaline will begin in March.
