Girl power is pulsating through the veins of the upcoming Harley Quinn spinoff, especially now that Cathy Yan has been hired as the film’s director, Variety reports. Yan is in good company, joining Patty Jenkins who was behind the smash hit, Wonder Woman, and Ava DuVernay as the only women to helm DC live-action movies. Margot Robbie will be reprising her role as fan-favorite icon Harley Quinn.
And to sweeten this news even more, Christina Hodson, who has written in the DC universe before to much acclaim, is penning the screenplay. Reports say that the film will adapt the popular Birds of Prey comic storyline, which follows Harley Quinn and her gang of girls.
Good news for fans: the movie is set to begin its creation by late 2018. The sequel to Suicide Squad will also be in progress at its earlier stages at that time as well, so it looks like Harley Quinn fans will have a lot more to see of her in the future.
