Halle Berry Returns To Comedy In ‘Mother’

Academy Award Winning Actress Halle Berry (Monster’s Ball, The Call, X-Men: Days of Future Past) will star in and produce  Mother, an indie comedy written by Pablo Fenjves (Man On A Ledge). Berry will play a young bride who is engaged to be married, until she discovers her soon-to-be husband is in the mob. She bolts the wedding, leaving the mobster at the altar, and goes undercover as a young man’s Mom. A party girl and prone to trouble, her wild ways begin to reveal her true identity at every turn. Berry’s manager Vincent Cirrincione will also produce along with Emilio Ferrari and Chris Miller. Entertainment 7 will be funding the film.

Shooting for Mother will start early next year. Next up for Berry, after the birth of her second child (due momentarily), is How To Get Over A Guy In Ten Days, a female frenemy comedy that is  based on the books of the female perspective by Michele Alexander and Jeannie Long. Kiwi Smith, who wrote Legally Blonde, will be making her directorial debut and will also write the script with Amy Rardin (TV’s The Carrie Diaries) and Jessica O’Toole (Material Girls, Greek, McKenna Shoots For The Stars). Derby Street Films will  team up with Lynda Obst Productions to produce. Obst also produced How to Lose A Guy in Ten Days, which starred Kate Hudson and Matthew McConaughey and was also based on an Alexander/Long book.
