The new film Kidnap, starring Halle Berry (X-Men franchise), is finally getting a release date after being completed for almost three years. With Relativity Studios facing financial troubles, the film was pushed back to 2016 until the studio lost the rights to the film; Aviron Pictures later picked up the distribution rights and has a scheduled release date, August 4th, 2017.
The film is directed by Luis Prieto, a Spanish filmmaker who directed the English remake of Pusher (2012). The script was penned by Knate Lee who is best known for producing Jackass 3D and Bad Grandpa. He is currently working on the script for the X-Men spinoff The New Mutants, which is due to be released in April 2018.
Kidnap stars Halle Berry as a mother whose son (Sage Correa) is abducted. She witnesses a vehicle with her son inside driving away and is determined to find her son. The trailer shows her pursuing the car as her worst fears are coming true.
