Gwyneth Paltrow may be coming back to the MCU as Pepper Potts, aka Rescue, in the upcoming Avengers: Doomsday. Since Gwyneth’s absence from the MCU after seeing her in Avengers: Endgame, it has been rumored that the Academy Award-winning actress will be reprising her role.
Paltrow’s journey in the MCU began in 2008 with the hit movie Iron Man, in which she played Tony Stark’s assistant and eventual love interest/wife. She then reappeared in Iron Man 2, The Avengers, and Iron Man 3. In Endgame, Paltrow was then seen suiting up as Rescue which is to aid the Avengers in the battle against Thanos thus marking a significant milestone for her character. Since then, she has not returned.
A rumor shared by a scooper, @MyTimeToShareH on X implied that Paltrow will make a possible return for Avengers: Doomsday, which is set to release in May 2026. To many fans, this appears to be a signal of the exploration of Tony Stark’s legacy in the Multiverse Saga. Doctor Doom is reportedly playing a major role as many fans are speculating Rescue’s return can tie into this story.
Paltrow admitted she is not a huge MCU fan by remarking she has not seen Endgame and has also said she struggles to keep track of the films, but she reflected on her experience working on Iron Man. She revealed that it was an intimate and improvised project that was different from the large-scale productions that followed.
Avengers: Doomsday will be directed by the Russo Brothers and fans are hoping the film will deliver the same emotional but action-packed storytelling that many MCU blockbusters have given. Marvel Studios has yet to confirm Gwyneth Paltrow’s involvement but the possibility of seeing her suit Rescue in action again has generated a significant level of excitement for fans.
