The sequel to Ric Roman Waugh’s 2020 film Greenland is on the cusp of releasing. The trailer has been revealed for Greenland 2: Migration, ahead of its debut early next year.
As the Earth still reels from the devastation caused by a comet that collided with the planet, the Garrity family begins a new and extremely dangerous journey for a new home. But in order to do so, they’ll have to traverse a desolate Europe now home to danger around each and every turn.
Gerard Butler and Morena Baccarin are returning for Migration, reprising their roles from the previous installment. New cast members include William Abadie, Amber Rose Revah, Roman Griffin Davies, and Trond Fausa Aurvåg.
Ric Roman Waugh is also returning to direct the sequel. On top of both Greenland films, he’s also directed Shot Caller and Snitch, as well as other Gerard Butler-led films Angel Has Fallen and Kandahar. Butler will serve as a producer on Migration, with Basil Iwanyk, Sebastien Raybaud, John Zois, Brendon Boyea, and Alan Siegel.
This time around, Greenland 2: Migration will be able to benefit from playing in theaters in the US. The first film hit the scene in 2020, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, unable to run on the big screen and being delegated to a streaming premiere. Migration will get the chance to rectify this with a wide debut for the film stateside.
Greenland 2: Migration hits theaters January 9th.
