‘Goodbye Christopher Robin’ Takes Awards Friendly Release Date

Fox Searchlight has set the release date for their biopic Goodbye Christopher Robin as November 10, 2017. Starring Domhnall Gleeson (Brooklyn) and Margot Robbie (Suicide Squad), the film tells the true story of children’s author A.A. Milne and his son Christopher Robin (Will Tilston), whose toys eventually inspired the creation of the beloved character Winnie the Pooh. Milne, Christopher, his mother Daphne (Robbie) and his nanny Olive (Kelly MacDonald) get swept up in the international success of the books after the First World War. With their son in the spotlight, the Milne family face deep challenges in the midst of glory.

Simon Curtis (Woman in GoldMy Week with Marilyn) directed the film based on the script by Frank Cottrell Boyce (The Railway Man) and Simon Vaughan (Coco Chanel produver).

With such a high-profile cast, a heartwarming tale, and the biopic genre, this film looks to be taking full advantage of the awards season schedule. It is currently up against the comedy Daddy’s Home 2, and the Francis Lawrence (Hunger Games series) spy film Red Sparrow, starring Jennifer Lawrence and Joel Edgerton.
