While Keanu Reeves is known for his high-stakes action movies, his upcoming role is a change of pace for him. And unfortunately, it brought about an injury for Reeves on set.
Aziz Ansari takes up writing, directing, and even headlining his newest film, Good Fortune. Alongside Ansari is Reeves in the role of a guardian angel, who, as stated by Ansari, suffered a fractured kneecap while on set.
“About 15 days into shooting with me, I said, ‘Go chill in your trailer.”
He continued, “he tripped on a rug.… Poor guy, he was such a trooper, and he fractured his kneecap and continued to do all the scenes.”
Reeves has a vast filmography under his belt, dabbling in the action genre most frequently. Last year saw the release of John Wick: Chapter 4, the next installment in the high stakes action series. He was also recently in a follow up to the sci-fi classic, The Matrix, 2021’s The Matrix Resurrections.
Ansari even commented about how Reeves never had to go to the hospital for a physically demanding film, but did for this film. The director, who has a background steeped in comedy, also mentioned that after his injury followed an upsurge of support for Reeves, while he went so far as to say, “he actually is an angel.”
Ansari has appeared in a slew of comedies over his career. Good Fortune marks his fifth directorial effort, and his third narrative-driven project.
As Hollywood Reporter states, the information from Ansari came from his showcase of Good Fortune during CinemaCon. There was very little information about it before the presentation, but they stated that what was shared went over very well with audiences.
