The 2026 Golden Globes have come and gone, with the ceremony providing a number of surprise wins.
Of all films nominated, One Battle After Another led the pack with nine nominations. The film went on to win four of those awards, the most of any film at the ceremony. The second-most nominated film was Joachim Trier’s Sentimental Value, which was nominated in eight categories. However, the film only received one win, that being Stellan Skarsgard for best supporting actor.
Guillermo Del Toro’s Frankenstein received five nominations but was completely shut out from any wins. Similarly, the Palme d’Or winner It Was Just an Accident was nominated in four categories and walked away empty-handed. It was predicted to win the award for Best Motion Picture – Non-English Language, but that went to The Secret Agent. As for the top awards, the award for Best Motion Picture – Musical or Comedy unsurprisingly went to One Battle After Another. However, the drama winner was a moderate surprise with Hamnet beating out Sinners, It Was Just an Accident, and Sentimental Value.
KPop Demon Hunters walked away with two wins as well, winning the Best Motion Picture – Animated category and Best Original Song with “Golden.” Kim Eun-jae, who is Rumi’s singing voice and co-wrote a handful of the songs in the film, got emotional accepting the award for “Golden.”
I worked tirelessly for 10 years to fill one dream to become a K-pop idol and was rejected. [I] disappointed that my voice wasn’t good enough, so I leaned on songs and music to get through it.
