The reincarnation of the franchise has been shooting in New York for the past couple months. In the background of the picture Feig tweeted out, you can see the landmark fire station that was the base for the Ghostbusters in the original films.
The 2016 version of the phantom catchers stars comedy heavyweights Melissa McCarthy and Kristen Wiig – the duo starred in Feig’s 2011 smash hit Bridesmaids – who are joined by rising Saturday Night Live alums Kate McKinnon and Leslie Jones.
McCarthy and Feig have continued to work together since their Bridesmaids collaboration. In 2013, the two teamed up for The Heat, pitting McCarty with Sandra Bullock in the buddy-action flick and most recently this summer’s Spy opposite Rose Byrne (who also worked on Bridesmaids) and Jason Statham. Ghostbusters will be their fourth film together with a fifth – The Heat 2 – potentially in the works.
The project will now move to post production. Ghostbusters in set to hit cinemas next July.
