According to The Hollywood Reporter, Hanna Schygulla, the legendary German actress, will receive the honor of a Lifetime Achievement award at the German Film Awards this year. Schygulla is best known for her collaborations with prolific German filmmaker, Rainer Werner Fassbinder, such as her role as the titular character in The Marriage of Maria Braun, Berlin Alexanderplatz, Lili Marleen, and much more. She also collaborated with other famous German filmmakers, such as Wim Wenders (Wrong Move) and Fatih Akin (The Edge of Heaven). Schygulla also had a presence in other European cinema, as she also starred in French director Jean-Luc Godard’s Passion. Most recently, at the age of 80, the actress made a striking cameo in Yorgos Lanthimos’ Poor Things, starring as the role of Martha von Kurtzroc.
