The new Gerard Butler thriller Greenland is set to hit theaters on July 31.
The highly anticipated thriller was directed by Ric Roman Waugh, whose previous work includes Angel Has Fallen, which also starred Butler. Chris Sparling and Mitchell LaFortune worked together to help write and revise the script for the film.
The film also stars Morena Baccarin alongside Butler and follows the story of a family fighting for their lives in the face of a cataclysmic disaster. The family must fight to stay together as the apocalypse looms in the distance. As the end of the world comes closer and closer, the family has one shot at getting to a safe haven.
This upcoming film is one of the slew of films intended to premiere this spring or in early summer that had to be postponed due to the coronavirus and social distancing precautions. This required lots of studios to rearrange and postpone many highly anticipated releases.
The subject matter of the film may have been a little too on the nose for the current world climate, so the trailer has been removed from YouTube and all streaming sites for the time being. There will likely be a new trailer release within the next few weeks with July quickly approaching.
Now that theaters across the country are slowly beginning to open up, more films are being released, and films like this one are booking slots for late summer release.
