Since IDW partnered with Webtoon comics, they have embraced the mainstream mobile format. On April 25th, Star Trek veteran actor George Takei recently wrote a memoir in graphic format titled They Called Us Enemy, which will be released alongside Godzilla: Unnatural Disasters.
Yongsoo Kim, who is the head of Webtoon Entertainment was quoted as saying,
”Webtoon has become the destination for comics of all kinds, including some of the biggest franchises in entertainment. This partnership with IDW Publishing is an exciting step in expanding our diverse library and connecting more fans with the stories they love in a whole new way. Since IDW partnered with Webtoon comics, the media has embraced the mobile format to include the top publishers.”

They Called Us Enemy follows Takei on his tragic life in an imprisonment camp during World War II. The comic will tackle themes of courage, love, and friendship.
Webtoon originally began in South Korea and blew up across the globe, making collaborations with DC and Archie comics. IDW also found success in their releases of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics. Takei originally published They Called Us Enemy in 2019, but it will be available to read electronically on April 25th, 2025.
