Gary Oldman to Star in ‘The Woman in the Window’ Adaptation

GARY OLDMAN as Carnegie in Alcon Entertainment's action adventure film 'The Book of Eli', a Warner Bros. Pictures release.

Despite being one of Hollywood’s most prolific and versatile actors, it took until his performance as Winston Churchill in 2017’s Darkest Hour for Gary Oldman to finally claim an Oscar. Now, the Academy Award winning actor will be teaming up again with Darkest Hour director Joe Wright for the upcoming Amy Adams-led psychological thriller The Woman in the Window. The film is an adaptation of the novel by A.J. Flynn, which placed number one on the New York Times bestseller list following its 2018 release.

The Woman in the Window focuses on Anna Fox (Adams), a child psychologist whose agoraphobia has rendered her a recluse. She hasn’t left her house in months and spends the majority of her free time drinking, watching movies, and spying on her neighbors. Then, one day, Anna witnesses, from her window, a crime involving the Russell family next door. Everyone, including authorities, treat her words with skepticism, and eventually Anna begins to doubt her own eyes. Oldman will be playing the Russell family patriarch.

Oldman will also star in the upcoming Steven Soderbergh film The Laundromat alongside Meryl Streep.

Adams is currently starring in the HBO limited series Sharp Objects, based on the novel by Gone Girls writer Gillian Flynn.
