Gareth Evans To Direct ‘Apostle’ with Dan Stevens Starring

It was announced this past week that Gareth Evans will write and direct the period thriller Apostle, which will star Dan Stevens.  XYZ Films is currently handling international sales at American Film Market this week.

The Welsh born writer/director, most well known for the Indonesian martial arts films The Raid (2011) and The Raid 2 (2014), is working again with XYZ Films for this project.  Evans is currently also working on developing Blister and The Raid 3.

Apostle will follow a man (Stevens) as he travels to an island to rescue his sister who has been kidnapped by a religious cult. As he skillfully tries to negotiate his sister’s release, he uncovers secrets that threaten to bring down the entire cult. Severn Screen and One More One Productions will produce the project.

Dan Stevens, who achieved international fame from his role in Downton Abbey, can recently be seen in Colossal with Anne Hathaway, and can be seen in the upcoming live action Beauty and the Beast as the beast.

Apostle is expected to start filming in March 2017 in the UK. We will keep you updated on announcements about the film.
