On the subject of Alfred Hitchcock, one of the greatest directors in history, we often talk about films such as Vertigo, Psycho or Rear Window. And, on the contrary, one tends to forget other works from the Master of Suspense, perhaps not so perfect but just as exciting, like Frenzy, Sabotage or To Catch a Thief. Although everything indicates that the latter will once again be remembered as it deserves as the latest news reveal.
According to Deadline, Paramount is planning a remake of the 1955 classic starring Cary Grant and Grace Kelly. A new adaptation that would be written by Eileen Jones (Prodigal Son) and, above all, starring Gal Gadot. The Wonder Woman actress is already attached to the project, although her role in the film is still unknown.
And the thing is that To Catch a Thief has two very different roles. The first is that of John “The Cat” Robie, a jewel thief who has retired to the French Riviera and is nevertheless accused of a robbery he has nothing to do with. However, Robie will find his only ally in the wealthy heiress Frances (Grace Kelly), despite the fact that joining the thief puts her family jewels in danger.
To Catch a Thief is also known for being one of Grace Kelly’s last movies, who during filming would meet her future husband, Prince Rainier of Monaco, whom she married in 1956. With Gal Gadot, on the contrary, there is no possibility of that happening, since she has been married to Israeli businessman Jaron Varsano from 2008. However, we may once again see the Wonder Woman actress playing the role of a thief, just as she did in the Netflix hit Red Notice.
