Variety is reporting that Gal Gadot will be producing a film based on My Dearest Fidel: An ABC Journalist’s Secret Liaison With Fidel Castro, a politico article by Peter Kornbluh. Warner Bros. acquired the rights to the film for Kroll & Co. Entertainment. Sue Kroll, Gal Gadot and Jaron Versano will all produce the movie.
Kroll worked with Gadot on the Wonder Woman blockbuster hit last year. Chris Brancato, co-creator of Narcos, will write the screenplay for the film.
The film will tell the story of US-Cuba historian Peter Kornbluh’s article that details ABC journalist Lisa Howard’s discussions with Cuban revolutionary leader, Fidel Castro, after the 1962 missile crisis.
Gadot gave a statement about the reasoning of her involvement in the film saying: “When I first read Peter’s article, I was entranced by his thrilling account of a complicated, fascinating woman in the midst of a high-stakes, real-life drama.” Gadot will possibly star in the film as well.
