According to the Hollywood Reporter, Wonder Woman star Gal Gadot has begun negotiations to join Academy Award-nominated actor Bradley Cooper (American Sniper). Together, they will act in the upcoming new thriller Deeper. Currently, the extent and description of Gadot’s role remains secret.
MGM picked up the project last year on spec. So far, the film which was described as being similar to recent space-centric suspenseful fare such as Gravity and The Martian, seems both appealing and marketable. Max Landis (Victor Frankenstein) wrote the script and Hungarian filmmaker Kornel Mundruczo (White God) will helm the movie.
The story focuses on a former astronaut who has exchanged outer space for the deep sea. There, the character embarks on a chilling mission to explore a newly discovered trench when he encounters something mysterious and terrifying, which might just derail the entire voyage.
Israeli-born actress Gadot burst into worldwide fame in Wonder Woman, the Patty Jenkins-directed movie that quickly became mega-hit this summer, giving cinema fans an excellent break to an otherwise quiet summer at the box office. Gadot fans will be happy to know that the actress will return yet again as Diana Prince, headlining Wonder Woman 2. Even better, the film has been announced with a December 2019 release date, re-teaming Gadot and Jenkins with a script by Geoff Johns (TV’s Justice League Action and The Flash) and Jenkins.
