Given Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck it Ralph 2’s premise, Disney’s upcoming film could be over 48 hours long. On one hand, it could take inspiration from The Lego Movie and offer a hilarious satire of Internet culture and corporate consumerism. The other more cynical possibility is that it’s an excuse for Disney to showcase every major property they own for the sake of product placement. Based on the new trailer, however, things might be leaning a bit more towards the former.
Disney’s recent one-minute teaser for Ralph Breaks the Internet: Wreck-It Ralph 2 offers quite a lot to love. Alongside the usual internet-based hijinks, two specific plot points stand out. The first is Ralph (John C. Reilly) and Vanellope von Schweetz (Sarah Silverman) journeying to a racing game called ‘Slaughter House’ whose grittier tone implies something closer to Mad Max than Mario Kart. There they encounter Shank, voiced by Gal Gadot, whom Vanellope challenges to a race in order to save her own arcade game Sugar Rush.
Ralph Breaks the Internet will release in theaters on November 21. Check out the trailer below.
