Gabrielle Union is gearing up for her next project as the actress as signed on to star in a Screen Gems’ untitled romantic comedy according to Deadline. The actress will portray a newly single African American woman and he relationship with a recently divorced Asian American man. Screen Gems landed Chester Tam as a screenwriter to compile the narrative alongside Union. The comedy will be based on a factual account of Tam’s romance. Tam was recently wrote, directed, and starred in the Netflix original Take the 10.
Union will also act as a producer on the project alongside frequent collaborator Holly Shakoor-Fleischer under the label I’ll Have Another alongside Tam and Trevor Engelson of Underground. Scott Strauss and Jolene Rodriguez will supervise the film under Screen Gems.
Union was previously seen on the silver screen in Universal’s crime thriller Breaking In and currently holds a leading role alongside Jessica Alba in the hit Spectrum series, L.A.’s Finest, which was recently renewed for a second season. Union recently became a mother as she had her first child with NBA player Dwayane Wade in November 2018. The couple welcomed the birth of their daughter Kaavia James Union who was born via surrogate after struggling with numerous miscarriages.
